DIRECTV on Tuesday said it added three new The CW affiliates to its live-TV streaming service, DIRECTV STREAM.
The channels are KGCW-CW in Quad Cities, Iowa, WWLP-CW in Springfield-Holyoke, Massachusetts, and KXMA-CW in Minot-Bismarck-Dickinson, North Dakota.
The three channels are just the latest affiliates to be added to DIRECTV STREAM’s lineup as the company works to bring its live-TV streaming service to par with its core satellite TV offering. The additions come on top of four affiliates added in January, and seven in November.
The CW is going through a transformation after broadcasting giant Nexstar purchased a majority stake in the network. The company and has been pushing to transform it into a more general interest network and away from its roots as the home of teen dramas and DC superhero shows. In the last few months, it’s added sporting events like LIV Golf to its lineup.
