DIRECTV on Wednesday said it added two new The CW affiliates to its live-TV streaming service.
WSAV-CW, the affiliate in Savannah, Georgia, and WCBD-CW, the affiliate in Charleston, South Carolina, went live on DIRECTV Stream on Tuesday.
DIRECTV has been steadily working to bring more The CW affiliates to DIRECTV STREAM in an effort to bring parity to that service and its core satellite TV offering. The additions come on top of two other The CW affiliates it added in December and seven affiliates in November.
Broadcasting giant Nexstar owns a majority stake in The CW, and has been pushing to transform it into a more general interest network and away from its roots as the home of teen dramas and DC superhero shows. In the last few months, it’s added sporting events like LIV Golf to its lineup.
