This week, we shared the news that DIRECTV will be increasing prices on its premium packages and some of its genre packs. While new standard pricing wasn’t shared, we’re now learning more as subscribers are getting emails about the upcoming changes to their personal subscription plans.
WIth the price hike, DIRECTV shared details about the changes to Genre Packs. MyEntertainment will be $42.99, up from $34.99; MyKids will be $20.99, up from $19.99; MiEspanol will be $37.99, up from $34.99; MyNews will be $44.99, up from $39.99; and MySports will be $74.99, up from $64.99. For premium packages (Entertainment, Choice, Ultimate, and Premier) a representative for DIRECTV did not share prices and told us at Cord Cutters News that the increases will vary by package and changes will be communicated directly with customers.
Customers are now taking to social media and message boards to share their frustration with the price hike and the information they’re getting in emails. One Reddit user shared a screenshot of their email from DIRECTV, informing them that their monthly subscription to the Premier package will be increasing by a whopping $14 per month.

We’re writing to let you know about an upcoming change to your DIRECTV PREMIER package.
Beginning on or after June 25, 2026, the monthly price of your package will increase by $14.00, which will be reflected in your next bill. This update is due to ongoing increases in programming and operational costs across the television industry, including expenses related to live sports rights, local broadcast stations, and network content.

This is the second price hike for the platform in less than a year. An increase was announced in September 2025, with prices going up by as much as $11 per month.
