DIRECTV is set to implement price increases across its satellite and streaming services starting October 5, 2025, impacting both new and existing customers. The adjustments, which will see some plans rise by as much as $11 per month, come as the company navigates rising programming costs and ongoing market challenges. The price hikes affect a range of plans, including satellite TV packages and DIRECTV Stream, with additional increases for select add-ons, notably the Movie Extra Pack, which will cost an extra $5 per month. Some customers on the Choice plan are seeing their price go up just $9 a month but the Ultimate plan going up $11 a month.
This comes one year after DIRECTV raised its price on all of its plans. Though right now it is not known if legacy DIRECTV Stream custoemrs will also be seeing a price hike. DIRECTV is blaiming the rising costs charged by TV networks.
These changes reflect the broader pressures in the pay-TV industry, where rising content acquisition costs are pushing providers to adjust pricing. DIRECTV, with approximately 11 million subscribers, continues to balance its satellite and streaming offerings while expanding options like the MyFree DIRECTV service and genre-based packages. However, the price increases may prompt some customers to explore competitors like YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV, which offer fewer hidden fees and more flexible contracts. As the industry evolves, DIRECTV’s ability to retain customers amid these changes will be critical to its long-term success.
