Prime Video Sports pulled back the curtain Tuesday on its new NBA on Prime Studio, giving fans an early look at the high-tech set that will anchor its upcoming NBA coverage. The unveiling took place at Amazon MGM Studios in Culver City, California, with executives, media, and basketball legends in attendance.
Attendees included Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Udonis Haslem, Candace Parker, Dwyane Wade, John Wall, Rudy Gay, Swin Cash, and host Taylor Rooks, along with announcer Ian Eagle and analyst Stan Van Gundy. The event featured red carpet arrivals, a demonstration of the studio’s capabilities, and a panel discussion moderated by Rooks. Haslem led a live walkthrough of the set’s LED regulation half court, joined by several of the NBA on Prime team’s former players, before the night closed with a celebratory toast from Wade and Parker.
Inside the Studio
Prime Video designed the space to move beyond the traditional sports desk and immerse viewers in the game itself. The new studio includes:
- An all-LED regulation half court and hoop will be the largest high-resolution studio floor in America, used for demonstrations and analysis.
- A mezzanine-level anchor desk overlooking the multilevel set for added depth and constant views of the court.
- A lounge area for the postgame NBA Nightcap show, meant to feel like hanging out with the on-air crew after a game.
- Over 2,300 LED monitors wrapping the set for an immersive, ever-changing backdrop.
Prime Video executives including Mike Hopkins, Jay Marine, and Jared Stacy were also on hand, describing the studio as the centerpiece of the NBA on Prime experience.
When and Where to Watch
NBA on Prime tips off Friday, October 24, with a doubleheader featuring the Boston Celtics at New York Knicks (7:30 p.m. ET) and the Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers (10:00 p.m. ET). Coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. ET with a live pregame show from the new Culver City studio, followed by halftime coverage and postgame analysis on NBA Nightcap.
