According to Entertainment Studios Sports.TV will aggregate independent sports networks on one platform. Sports.TV will be available on all devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles, PCs and laptops. This will not be a free service but will be a subscription-based streaming service for sports fans and will launch later this year.

“The appetite for live sports programming is insatiable, and consumers worldwide are making it very clear they want to access this content on every device, wherever they go,” said Byron Allen, founder and CEO of Entertainment Studios. “Sports.TV is an innovative, global OTT subscription service that aggregates both live sports networks and premium sports content on one digital platform, giving our subscribers complete access to all of their favorite teams and players on every device worldwide.”

Sports.TV will face stiff competition as both ESPN and Time Warner have already announced plans to launch their own 24/7 cord cutting friendly sports service.

There is also Stadium a 24/7 free sports streaming service and over the air TV network. Stadium is owned by a collection of industry leaders including MLBAM, NHL, the PGA TOUR, Time Inc, and Sinclair Broadcasting Group, the largest over-the-air TV owner in the United States. This gives Stadium access to a long lineup of sporting events and the ability to be available free over the air in over 50 markets around the United States.

The question now is what services will survive as the market for free sports streaming is growing increasingly crowded.
