Max House of Halloween

To celebrate its first Halloween, Max, formerly HBO Max, has launched a new “House of Halloween” section in its app. The collection is organized by “scare level” so it’s easy to find age-appropriate content for the whole family.

October is right around the corner, and watching Halloween movies — horror or otherwise — is a staple of the season. In addition to Max, other apps and TV networks also put a spotlight on Halloween content in October.

Max’s collection sorts its movies and shows into categories –“Sweet Treat,” which highlights titles like Coraline and Halloween Cookie Challenge, “Scary, But Not Scary-Scary” includes content like True Blood and The Last of Us, and “Haunt Your Dreams” taps into the season’s scare factor with Evil Dead Rise, The Nun, and Annabelle.

“House of Horror” also pulls Halloween episodes from TV shows like Friends, South Park, The Big Bang Theory, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. You can check out paranormal shows from Discovery and the Travel Channel like Ghost Adventures and The Dead Files. And don’t forget not-so-creepy culinary content like Halloween Cake-Off and Kids Halloween Baking Challenge.

Max isn’t the only place to find movies and shows set the mood for October. Freeform will air its annual 31 Nights of Halloween special which is packed with fan favorites like Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Addams Family. Paramount+ announced its Peak Screaming Halloween special earlier this month which includes new releases like Pet Sematary: Bloodlines and Monster High 2. Netflix also showcases its scary movies in categories like Max, and don’t forget about Hulu’s Huluween section.
