Now, this is a reboot all about how, a classic sitcom got flipped and turned upside down, in 60-minute episodes with some drama flair, there’s a new spin on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Developed by Will Smith and Morgan Cooper, Bel-Air is based on Cooper’s short film of the same name, which follows Smith’s journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the lavish lifestyle of Bel-Air. After battling Netflix and HBO Max, Peacock ordered two seasons of the sterilized drama series with Smith sharing the news:
“We have just officially closed the deal with Peacock with an unprecedented 2 season order from a pitch. I’ve been in this business for 30 years and that does not happen,” Smith says in the video, sharing the news with showrunner, co-executive producer, and co-writer Chris Collins and co-executive producer Morgan Cooper.”
