2020 brought us some highly anticipated new streaming services and with them, original content, classic TV reboots, and a few disagreements between services and platforms that kept all of us at CCN on our toes.

We asked you about your favorite new streaming service of 2020 and HBO Max took the top spot with 47% of the votes, closely followed by Peacock with 39.3% of the votes. A free streaming service, Redbox Free Live TV took third place with 7.6% of the votes.

HBO Max launched in May with content from HBO, TBS, DC, Sesame Workshop, Looney Tunes, and more. The service also introduced original content and has continued to roll out exclusive series and movies since including viewer favorites like The Flight Attendant, The Undoing, and Raised by Wolves.

Peacock launched in July with both a free and premium paid tier. While NBCUniversal’s streaming service also launched with original content, it was the free tier that gave Peacock its initial bump in download numbers. With The Office leaving Netflix and landing on Peacock at the beginning of the new year, we may see more paid subscribers in Q1.

Rounding out the top three was Redbox Free Live TV. This free streaming service launched in February with no sign in required. Since then, Redbox Free Live TV has reached 75 channels on its lineup.
