A new season has begun as the race to the World Series begins with every team taking the field during MLB Opening Day 2024. For fans of the San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, and Arizona Diamondbacks, DIRECTV STREAM has renewed its deal with the clubs to allow in-market subscribers to livestream games.

DIRECTV has announced the launch of a new Colorado Rockies channel in time for Opening Day, and the renewal of the team channels for the San Diego Padres and the reigning and defending NL champion Arizona Diamondbacks. The three channels will provide fans who live in the market live access to games, studio coverage, and more of each team.

Previously, the Rockies were broadcast on the AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain RSN but it was shut down in October of 2023. The Diamondbacks formerly called Bally Sports Arizona home but it too was shut down in October due to the bankruptcy of the network’s parent company. Lastly, the Padres were the first team to strike out with the Bally Sports model due to payment issues, which gave MLB the right to control and produce the broadcasts for each team.

As part of the new Rockies channel, MLB fans across Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Southern Idaho, Western Nebraska, and Northern New Mexico will be able to watch all 9-innings of Rockies games on DIRECTV STREAM or by satellite. The new channel will be known as “MLB Colorado Rockies” and will appear in the programming guide as “ROCKIES.”

“Colorado sports fans have made DIRECTV the top destination to get all their favorite local teams,” said Rob Thun, chief content officer of DIRECTV. “We will continue to work with MLB, the NBA, NHL, and other top leagues and their local franchises so the most avid fans can get the games they want while other customers have more choice over the content they want to pay to have in their homes.”

As one of the most complete streaming services on the market with a host of features, DIRECTV STREAM starts with over 75 channels in its base plan, including the most popular entertainment and news networks. Upgrades are available to unlock many local Regional Sports Networks from NBC Sports RSNs, and Bally Sports RSNs, among others. Plus, subscribers can watch live games on national sports networks, including MLB Network, Fox, ESPN, FS1, ABC, TNT, and TBS with the Entertainment or Choice plans and the Sports Pack add-on.

Sign up for DIRECTV STREAM today and try it for free for 5 days.
