Formula 1 on Apple TV is adding another tool to help fans understand what is happening during a race, and it will debut this weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

F1 announced a new Strategy Insight graphic powered by AWS that will give viewers a clearer look at the decisions teams are making during a race. The new graphic is designed to help explain how factors such as tyre performance, pit stop timing, Safety Car possibilities, and the actions of rival teams can influence a team’s strategy.

Rather than simply showing viewers what is happening on the track, the new graphic is intended to provide more context about why teams are making certain decisions.

The Strategy Insight tool will use a combination of live race data, telemetry, historical information, and predictive analysis to show how a team’s strategy could develop. That could help viewers understand why a driver is staying out longer on a set of tyres, why a team decides to make a pit stop, or how a rival’s move could force a change in strategy.

The visual upgrade comes amid F1’s first season on Apple TV. The five-year deal made the platform the exclusive U.S. broadcast partner for Formula 1. Through Apple TV, fans can watch every practice session, qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix live in the United States. Apple has also made select F1 sessions and races available to watch for free, giving new fans a chance to sample the sport without immediately needing a subscription.

Apple has also been building a much bigger digital strategy around Formula 1 since taking over the U.S. rights. The tech giant has promoted F1 through the Apple TV app, Apple Sports, Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+. It has also partnered with Netflix to bring select Formula 1 content and a live race to Netflix subscribers.

Notably, DIRECTV has made it possible for customers who subscribe to Apple TV through the service to watch Apple’s F1 coverage inside the DIRECTV app. Apple has also taken F1 beyond traditional television and streaming. In 2026, select races are shown live in IMAX theaters, giving fans the chance to watch Grand Prix events on the big screen.

All of those moves are ways that Apple is trying to make Formula 1 easier to find and easier to follow across its growing ecosystem. By adding the new Strategy Insight graphic, F1 is bringing more real-time explanation to the broadcast that will help casual fans understand the action that they’re watching.

The Hungarian Grand Prix will be the first chance for fans to see the new AWS-powered graphic in action. Tune in on Sunday, July 26 at 9:00 AM ET on Apple TV.
