5 Things Coming to DIRECTV NOW in 2019: Price Hike, Fewer Channels, DVR, 4K, & More

Channel Surfing ManFor some time now, AT&T has made it clear what they plan to do with DIRECTV NOW in the future. Since 2017, AT&T has been talking about 4K support and a DVR add-on option to list a few features. So, what should you expect from DIRECTV NOW in 2019? Here are our top five things to watch for:

#1 4K HDR Streaming

Back in July 2017, AT&T announced plans to add 4K support to DIRECTV NOW. fuboTV already offers 4K streaming, but so far DIRECTV NOW has yet to roll out the feature. Recently DIRECTV NOW has been quiet about their 4K plans but keep an eye out for 4K streaming in 2019.

#2 DVR Add-On                                        

For over a year now AT&T has promised an add-on to give 100+ hours of DVR storage to DIRECTV NOW. AT&T is once again finding ways to make more money from DIRECTV NOW, and a DVR add-on seems to be one of the main ways they plan to do that in 2019.

#3 Price Hike

AT&T executives have repeatedly talked about a possible price hike. Time and time again they have stated that DIRECTV NOW is too cheap as it stands now. Watch for a possible price hike in 2019.

#4 Dropping Subscribers

About a month ago, AT&T announced that they expect DIRECTV NOW to lose subscribers in 2019. Exactly why they expect this is unknown, but AT&T is confident that they will lose subscribers.

#5 Dropping Channels

AT&T announced recently that they plan to drop unpopular channels to slim down DIRECTV NOW. What channels will be dropped is unknown, but look for channels to leave DIRECTV NOW and not be replaced.
