Sony Electronics is adding Zoom to its line of BRAVIA TVs, making it the first TV brand to be compatible with the app. Sony announced the upcoming launch in a press release last week.

“With Zoom on BRAVIA TVs, you can now easily communicate through the big screen with the BRAVIA CAM. This includes video communication, screen sharing, and collaboration tools.”

BRAVIA CAM enables Gesture Control to give users full remote control sans the remote. Additional features include Ambient Optimization Pro to put the focus on you no matter where you are in the room, automatically adjusting sound and picture to keep you in center stage.

“We are excited to partner with Zoom to bring video conferencing to our BRAVIA TVs, making Zoom services available on the Android TV platform. This partnership will make it possible for our customers to enjoy more realistic video communication on a large TV screen in the living room, enabling them to be more connected with the people they care about, whether they are working from home, learning remotely, or just catching up with friends and family,” said Shusuke Tomonaga, Head of BRAVIA TV Product Design, Product Technology Center, Sony Corporation.

Zoom’s Head of Hardware Partnership, Eric Yu says the new features will bring “the best of both worlds” to video conferencing. Over the summer, select BRAVIA TVs will get access with compatible BRAVIA CAMs. When? There’s no official word yet, but sources guestimate it will be within a few weeks. As for if Zoom will be debuting on other devices, no announcements have yet been released on what’s next or when that could be.

Compatible models include the X95L, X93L, A80L, X90L, X85L, X80L, X75L, Z9K, A95K, X95K, A90K, A80K, A75K, X90K, X90S, X85K, X80K units. Zoom can be downloaded from the Google Play Store via the BRAVIA TV. Check out the full line of BRAVIA TVs here
