Looking for something new on YouTube? Not sure what you want to watch? Now, YouTube will recommend videos to you based on the color of the thumbnail.

Recently YouTube started adding the ability to select the color and see videos from channels you follow that had thumbnails with that color in them. This maybe one of the most random ways YouTube has ever recommended a video it seems like a clear effort help viewers find something random and new to watch.

So far we have only seen these video suggestions by color in our YouTube Android app.

Here is what that looks like inside the YouTube app on Android:

This all comes as recently YouTube is testing out a colorful new design for the playlist and watch history sections of its app for Google and Android TVs.

“We are rolling out a new layout to the Library on TVs for all YouTube users. This is part of our modernization efforts announced earlier this year,” a YouTube spokesperson confirmed to Cord Cutters News.

Some users have noticed a new top row that displays shortcuts in various colors for History, Watch Later, Playlists, Music, and Movies and TV. If you click one of the new shortcut buttons, that category will open in full screen. Underneath the new row — which is housed on the Library tab — it looks like users can scroll through the horizontal categories like normal.

So far, 9to5Google said it’s seeing the new design on Shield TV and Chromecast with Google.

Last year, Google-owned video sharing app announced plans for a redesign and has been trying out a number of new things this year to provide a more streamlined app experience.

Other tests have included a redesigned “Now Playing” interface for Android and iOS with a comments section as well as updates to YouTube TV’s Library and DVR features.

Have you spotted the redesign in your YouTube TV app? Or have you seen the new find a video by color? Let us know in the comments.
