Back in June, YouTube TV announced several new improvements were in the works, including better picture quality, a new library to make your DVR even better, and Mulitview improvements. So far, only the multiview improvements have become a reality.

Now Google has confirmed to Cord Cutters News that a public beta of the new Library has started to roll out as a public test. YouTube TV says a handful of customers will start to see the new library as YouTube TV tests it before a more public launch at a later date.

Often YouTube TV will test new features with a handful of customers for weeks or even months before a full public release. So don’t expect to see it anytime soon if you don’t have it now.

Here is what we know about these changes:

What to expect from YouTube TV’s new library:

About a month ago, YouTube TV for a short time rolled out a new library feature. It looked very similar to the old one, with the menu on the left and minor changes. The change was warmly received by subscribers, but for some unknown reason, YouTube TV rolled it back to the old horizontal look.

Here is how YouTube TV describes the changes they say are in the works on the new YouTube TV Library:

Library Changes: We’ve heard your feedback about Library issues and are working on fixes to address the relevancy of Catch Up on your Favorites, incorrect Watch badging, and ordering of Recently Recorded entries.

For now, we will have to wait for one of the beta testers to post photos with the new Library to learn more.

What other improvements should we expect? Here is what YouTube TV recently announced:

Picture Quality Experiments: We’re testing transcoding changes, including a bitrate increase for live 1080p content over the next several weeks. These will target devices that support the VP9 codec with high-speed internet connections. If these go well, we plan to make them permanent by this summer. More info to come!

5.1 Audio/Video Sync: We’re rolling out some fixes over the next few weeks to address A/V sync issues across Live playback. We continue to welcome feedback! Feel free to leave a picture of your Stats for Nerds and your device information on this thread if you’re still experiencing issues. We’re also actively working on a separate follow on fix for VOD audio sync issues.

NFL Sunday Ticket Unlimited Streams at Home: You asked and we listened! We’re updating our product functionality to grant you access to unlimited NFL Sunday Ticket streams in your home and 2 additional streams outside of your home for you and your household. You can read more here.

Stay tuned for more updates on the multiview feature and video quality next month! As always, thanks for your feedback.
