Have you ever been watching TV on YouTube TV and seen an ad break replaced by a beautiful zen moment? These popular short videos show beautiful landscapes, animals, and more. Now though, you will find a big ad right in the middle of these popular zen moments.

YouTube TV, in an effort to raise more money, has now been selling sponsorships for these zen moments. Now you will find a message that “this break is brought to you by…” and the name of the company that is sponsoring it. Right now, it seems Progressive is the most popular sponsor based on comments posted on Reddit.

This comes as YouTube TV and all advertisers are struggling with low ad revenue. By selling sponsorships on zen moments, YouTube TV can help drive up revenue to keep subscription costs down. Seeing ads helps offset these costs.

Zen moments fill ad breaks that didn’t sell or didn’t fully line up. Sometimes can take most of an ad spot or last just a few seconds.

YouTube TV has also recently announced some new improvements coming soon, including better picture quality and multiview.

What to expect from YouTube TV’s Multiview;

One of the main requests for Multiview has been the ability to customize this feature with the channels you want. Recently YouTube TV confirmed that they hope to make this feature customizable in the future. Hopefully, this will be the big news that YouTube TV will make in July.

What to expect from YouTube TV’s improved picture quality:

When YouTube TV first announced improved picture quality, here is what they said.

Picture Quality Experiments: We’re testing transcoding changes, including a bitrate increase for live 1080p content over the next several weeks. These will target devices that support the VP9 codec with high-speed internet connections. If these go well, we plan to make them permanent by this summer. More info to come!
