Update: Even though YouTube TV has posted a warning that the channels have been removed, Paramount-owned channels are still working but the warning on YouTube TV’s website says they are no longer available.
Update #2 Google has confirmed that Paramount channels are still available on YouTube TV despite the message on the site.

Here is the original post:
Last night, Paramount and YouTube TV announced a short-term deal to keep Paramount networks on YouTube TV. Now though after weeks of tense negotiations, the anticipated blackout has arrived: Paramount-owned channels are no longer available on YouTube TV. As of today, subscribers have lost access to a significant array of content from 20 channels, including CBS, CBS Sports Network, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, BET, VH1, TV Land, Smithsonian Channel, Pop, NewsNation, and select MyNetwork TV stations. This also means the removal of Paramount+ and BET+ from YouTube’s Primetime Channels. The carriage dispute has left millions of viewers without access to their favorite shows, news, and sporting events.
The breakdown in negotiations between Paramount and YouTube TV follows a familiar pattern in the increasingly complex streaming landscape. Content providers like Paramount are seeking fair compensation for their valuable programming, while streaming platforms like YouTube TV aim to control costs and avoid passing price increases onto their subscribers. In this instance, the two sides were unable to reach a mutually agreeable resolution, resulting in a complete severing of their distribution agreement.
Paramount has consistently maintained that they presented “fair offers” to YouTube TV, highlighting the value of their portfolio, which includes CBS, America’s most-watched network, and hit franchises like “Yellowstone.” They argued that YouTube TV was pushing for “one-sided terms” and jeopardizing viewer access to popular content.
YouTube TV, while expressing disappointment at the outcome, has stood firm in its position. The platform has emphasized its commitment to keeping costs down for its subscribers and suggested that Paramount’s demands would have necessitated price hikes.
The impact of this blackout is substantial. YouTube TV subscribers have lost access to primetime hits, live sports, and a wide range of popular cable programming. Fans of shows like “Tracker” and “Matlock” on CBS, as well as those eagerly awaiting the next season of “Yellowstone” on Paramount Network, are now left searching for alternative viewing options. Sports enthusiasts will be particularly affected, with key events like March Madness and The Masters now unavailable on the platform.
For Paramount, the loss of distribution on YouTube TV represents a significant blow. The platform boasts a large subscriber base, and the absence of Paramount channels will undoubtedly impact viewership and advertising revenue. This dispute underscores the delicate balance content providers must strike between maximizing reach and securing fair compensation.
The current situation leaves viewers in a lurch. Those who rely on YouTube TV for their entertainment are now forced to consider other options. Paramount+ remains available as a standalone streaming service on various devices, though it lacks the live TV component offered by YouTube TV. Other live TV streaming platforms, such as DIRECTV STREAM, Sling TV, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV, continue to carry Paramount channels, but switching platforms can be inconvenient and potentially more expensive.
The breakdown in negotiations serves as a stark reminder of the power struggles shaping the future of television. As the streaming landscape continues to evolve, carriage disputes like this are likely to become more common. Viewers are left hoping that these disagreements can be resolved quickly and amicably, allowing them to access the content they love without interruption. For now, however, the Paramount blackout on YouTube TV is a reality, leaving a significant void in the streaming experience for many.
