In 2023 cord cutting is growing faster than ever, and the battle to be the service everyone subscribes to is heating. As more Americans ditch cable TV for cheaper streaming options, everyone is fighting to be that option.
Now according to a recent survey of over 1,000 Cord Cutters News readers, YouTube TV is the clear winner, with 34.2% of readers saying they use YouTube TV. In second place was Philo, with 8.1% of cord cutters subscribing to their skinny bundle of channels.

Clearly, YouTube TV is connecting with cord cutters in a way that is helping it stand out from the crowd. Yet many cord cutters are still not subscribing to a live TV streaming service.
With some services not reporting their actual subscriber numbers, its hard to estimate, but roughly 20 million Americans subscribe to a live TV streaming service like YouTube TV. The problem for TV companies is an increasing number of cord cutters are ditching their live TV streaming services for on-demand only options.
Increasingly if you are not a fan of sports, the need for a live TV service like YouTube TV is dying. As more networks put their content into their on-demand services like Disney+ and Paramount+, it raises the question of why even bother subscribing to a live TV service.
