Recently it may have seemed like YouTube TV has become more aggressive about locking some customers out of their accounts until they prove their address. This seems to be part of an effort to stop account sharing.
From all the reports Cord Cutters News has recently received, most of the subscribers locked out have shared their accounts with people who do not live with them. Even though YouTube TV allows you to share your account with five other people so they can have their own DVR etc., they must live with you in the same household.
There is also a second group of customers who may have their accounts locked until they prove their home address: The frequent traveler.
According to YouTube TV, you must use YouTube TV at least once every three months in your home area. Here is how YouTube TV defines this limitation. “If you’re a frequent traveler, make sure to use YouTube TV at least once every 3 months in your home area. This check makes sure YouTube TV can continue to offer you the correct local networks.”
This effort to lock your account could be to confirm you really do live where you say you do. Increasingly, we are getting reports that YouTube TV is becoming more aggressive with this rule, cutting people off who travel without reconnecting to their home location.
No matter what happens, the only way to get your account unlocked is to reach out to Google customer support with the driver’s license they requested.
