In a significant boost for cord-cutters and fans of local programming, YouTube TV is set to expand its lineup of local CW channels across the United States, bringing more regional content to its subscribers. The streaming service, already a favorite among viewers for its robust selection of over 130 channels, has confirmed plans to add several new CW affiliates to its roster in 2025, addressing gaps in local coverage for many markets. This move follows a growing demand for localized content and strengthens YouTube TV’s position as a leading choice for live TV streaming, competing with services like Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and Fubo.

According to a recent update spotted on The CW’s official website and widely discussed on Reddit, YouTube TV will introduce several new CW affiliates, including WMBB-DT2 (Panama City, FL) and KELO-DT4 (Sioux Falls, SD), both slated for launch on September 20, 2025. Another affiliate, WWTI-DT2 (Watertown, NY), is scheduled to join the platform in November 2025. Additionally, WVIR-DT3 (Charlottesville, VA) is expected to launch by the end of July 2025, offering viewers in that region access to CW programming through YouTube TV. Other Gray Television-owned CW stations, such as KFVS-DT2 (Cape Girardeau, MO), WABI-DT2 (Bangor, ME), WLTZ-DT2 (Columbus, GA), and KXJB-LD2 (Fargo, ND), are also in the pipeline, with pending launch dates to be announced soon.

This expansion builds on YouTube TV’s 2023 deal with Nexstar Media Group, which brought nearly 60 CW stations to the platform, enhancing its local channel offerings. The addition of these new affiliates addresses viewer feedback about inconsistent CW availability, particularly in smaller markets where local channels were previously unavailable. The CW, known for popular shows like Superman & Lois, All American, and Walker, as well as its sports programming, including ACC football and LIV Golf, is a valuable addition for subscribers seeking both scripted and live content.

For viewers in markets without CW affiliates on YouTube TV, these additions signal a promising future. The platform’s ability to integrate local channels aligns with its mission to provide a cable-like experience without the need for traditional subscriptions. Subscribers can expect seamless access to these new channels through YouTube TV’s base plan, which starts at $82.99/month, with no additional fees for local affiliates.

As YouTube TV continues to grow its subscriber base—now exceeding 8 million users—this expansion reinforces its appeal to cord-cutters seeking affordable, flexible access to local and national content.
