After months of waiting, YouTube TV subscribers will start seeing locals from Nexstar being added today. Sadly Nexstar has declined to give a full list but has confirmed stations will start to go live, starting with WGN in Chicago. Originally announced for Friday, Nexstar has started to make the channels live a day early.
We have also confirmed that MyTV affiliates have started to show up on YouTube TV. YouTube TV rarely adds a ton of stations at once. Look for them to slowly roll out today and tomorrow.
This news was first announced back in March YouTube TV and Nexstar Media Group, INC. The CW Network’s parent company Nexstar Media Group, INC. announced a new deal with YouTube TV. With this deal, YouTube TV will continue to have access to the CW Network for years to come and will add even more local affiliates now though we are finally getting a date for some of these networks.
“We are extremely pleased to have reached agreement to continue carriage of its CW-affiliated stations on YouTube TV, especially as we move forward with our plans to transform The CW with additional sports programming and a new slate of prime-time entertainment shows this Fall,” said Dennis Miller, President of The CW Network. “YouTube TV is an important partner for our affiliates and us, and we look forward to expanding our relationship and growing our audience via this dynamic platform.”
This deal will add 59 new Nexstar Stations, including 29 CW-affiliated television stations, its 26 MyNetworkTV affiliates, and its four independent stations in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Oklahoma City, and Baton Rouge.
Some of these CW affiliates are already live on YouTube TV. Now the next round of Nexstar locals have started to go live on YouTube TV.
Most of the local CW affiliates owned by Nexstar are already live on YouTube. Now it seems that some of the independent and, hopefully, the MyNetworkTV affiliates will go live this week.
Not only is WGN being added, but so is KRON4, on June 30th, 2023. It is unknown right now how many others of the Nexstar stations will be added this week, but KRON4 and WGN have been confirmed.
