NBCUniversal has unveiled plans for the NBC Sports Network, a dedicated 24-hour linear channel set to debut on November 17. The network will aggregate a broad selection of live events and studio programming drawn from the company’s sports holdings, providing pay-television subscribers with centralized access to content that also appears on the Peacock streaming service.
Distribution will begin exclusively through select pay-TV providers. YouTube TV customers will gain immediate access at launch, while Xfinity subscribers will follow shortly thereafter. Additional carriers are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks, expanding the channel’s footprint across traditional cable and satellite platforms.
“NBCUniversal delivers the biggest moments in sports, and the new NBC Sports Network gives pay-tv customers a seamless way to enjoy the wide range of sports in our portfolio, adding an important pillar in our linear and streaming strategy,” said Matt Schnaars, President, Platform Distribution and Partnerships, NBCUniversal. “NBCSN is a win across the board – driving value for fans and distributors who prefer an aggregated experience, league and conference partners seeking broad reach, and advertisers targeting engaged sports audiences – while also creating a new monetization path for some of our most premium programming and supporting NBCU’s commitment to serving viewers wherever they watch, whether on Peacock, pay-tv, or both.”
The programming lineup spans multiple disciplines and leagues, emphasizing high-profile regular-season matchups, postseason contests, and ancillary studio content. Basketball coverage will include Monday night NBA games alongside playoff rounds. Baseball is slated to feature dozens of Major League Baseball regular-season games and certain postseason encounters, pending finalization of a forthcoming rights agreement.
Soccer enthusiasts can anticipate Premier League fixtures. The network will also incorporate daily whip-around programming under the Gold Zone banner, hosted by Scott Hanson, with a focus on the Milan Cortina Olympic Winter Games scheduled for February 2026.
Women’s professional basketball will receive prominent placement through WNBA regular-season and playoff telecasts. College football will showcase Big Ten conference games along with Notre Dame contests. Collegiate basketball programming will encompass men’s and women’s games from the Big Ten, Big East, and Big 12 conferences.
Golf coverage will extend to major championships, including portions of the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. Cycling events will highlight the Tour de France, Tour de France Femmes, Vuelta a España, and related races. Horse racing will feature the Kentucky Derby alongside undercard events from the Kentucky Oaks.
Olympic-related disciplines will appear outside of Games periods, such as figure skating, ski and snowboard competitions, gymnastics, swimming, and track and field. Studio offerings will include PFT Live, The Dan Patrick Show, The Dan Le Batard Show, and Fantasy Football Happy Hour with Matthew Berry.
The initiative positions the channel as a complementary outlet within NBCUniversal’s ecosystem, bridging linear television and digital streaming. By consolidating marquee events into a single destination, the network aims to enhance viewer retention for distributors favoring bundled experiences while opening additional advertising avenues tied to sports audiences.
This development reflects ongoing adaptations in sports media distribution, where rights holders seek to maximize reach across legacy and emerging platforms. The channel’s arrival coincides with preparations for major upcoming calendars, including the 2025-2026 NBA and college basketball seasons, as well as the approach of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
