youtube tv logoToday YouTube TV removed the regional YES Network and some FOX Regional Sports Networks. This was first spotted by Matthew Keys. This comes after a short term deal kept FOX RSNs on YouTube TV past the February 29th deadline. This is the 3rd major live TV streaming service to drop Yes Regional Sports Networks and some or all Fox RSNs. Hulu and AT&T TV NOW are currently the only live TV streaming services that offer Yes RSN. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates on the availability of Fox RSNs for cord cutters.

Update: YouTube TV says the FOX RSNs that will be removed will happen later today. Subscribers will be notified if they live in a market that is losing FOX RSNs. At this time only Yes Network, Fox Sports Prime Ticket, and Fox Sports West will be dropped.

Here is a statement from Yes Network about the blackout:

YouTube TV has not released a statement. Here is their most recent tweet about the talks with Sinclair:

“We do not take this decision lightly,” YouTube TV said in a statement on Twitter. “This is a reflection of the rising cost of sports content. You may have noticed several other TV services have also decided to remove Fox Regional Sports Networks from their lineups.”

This fight seems to be over the Fox Regional Sports Networks only. Sinclair owned locals will remain on YouTube TV.

“We are pleased that YouTube TV was able to agree to terms on 19 of our RSNs and that they will continue to provide subscribers with access to some of the most in-demand sports networks in the nation,” said David Gibber, senior vice president and general counsel of Sinclair. “Millions of fans across the country tune into sports content daily and, at Sinclair, our goal is to make this as widely accessible as possible.”

“We value our ongoing relationship with YouTube TV, however, we are deeply disappointed with its decision to not carry certain RSNs. We offered competitive market terms but, ultimately, YouTube TV declined,” said Gibber. “We encourage YouTube TV subscribers who value these RSNs to turn to other streaming services or their local cable or satellite provider for continued access, or to directly contact YouTube TV with feedback.”

This news comes after Sling TV and fuboTV have also recently dropped Sinclair’s newly acquired Fox Regional Sports Networks. Both Sling TV and fuboTV pointed to the high costs of Fox Regional Sports Networks compared to the relatively low viewership.

Correction: It was originally reported that all FOX RSNs had been pulled. Only some FOX RSNs are being removed.
