In a move to continue improving Multiview, YouTube TV has unveiled a significant expansion of its Multiview feature, which allows subscribers to watch up to four channels simultaneously with enhanced customization and intelligent recommendations. Now subscribers will have even more options for multiview options.

Initially launched in 2023 to cater to sports viewers during events like March Madness, Multiview has evolved from offering preselected channel combinations to a highly customizable platform. The latest upgrade enables users to mix and match live streams from a growing list of channels, including popular national networks like ESPN, USA, and CNN, alongside sports giants such as FS1 and the Golf Channel. YouTube TV has also introduced plans to incorporate local channels, such as ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, into the customizable Multiview lineup in the coming months, addressing subscriber demand for regional content.

What sets this expansion apart is YouTube TV’s new smart recommendation system, which analyzes the channel a user is watching and suggests Multiview combinations tailored to their preferences. In a recent test, a subscriber watching the Golf Channel was offered approximately a dozen Multiview options, blending other sports channels (like ESPN and FS1), local news, and even entertainment networks. This dynamic feature ensures viewers can effortlessly create a viewing experience that aligns with their interests, whether it’s tracking multiple sports events, staying updated with breaking news, or enjoying a mix of live programming.

The expanded Multiview is available across multiple devices, including smart TVs, mobile devices, tablets, and Roku players, with YouTube TV’s server-side processing ensuring smooth performance. Subscribers can access personalized Multiview recommendations via the “Watch in Multiview” or “Top Picks for You” rows on the app’s Home tab. Additionally, YouTube TV has introduced an “Always-On” Multiview channel, streaming local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC affiliates 24/7, perfect for viewers who want to monitor local news and events without navigating menus.

For sports enthusiasts, the timing is ideal as the 2025 NFL season approaches. YouTube TV’s integration with NFL Sunday Ticket now allows fans to build custom Multiview screens combining NFL games with news or entertainment channels, despite some licensing restrictions on local CBS and FOX games. This flexibility positions YouTube TV as a leader in live sports streaming, offering unparalleled control over the viewing experience.

With YouTube TV base plan starting at $82.99/month and over 130 channels, including local affiliates and regional sports networks, YouTube TV continues to attract cord-cutters seeking affordable, flexible access to live content. The company encourages subscribers to test the new Multiview features and provide feedback, which will shape future updates and channel expansions. As YouTube TV rolls out these enhancements, it solidifies its reputation as a trailblazer in the competitive streaming landscape, delivering a viewing experience that’s as dynamic as its audience.
