YouTube TV has responded to recent speculation about a potential price increase, clarifying that the higher price displayed in a Verizon advertisement was an error. The company is working with Verizon to correct the inaccurate information.

The controversy began when a Verizon ad promoting a bundled discount on YouTube TV for its internet customers listed the streaming service’s price at $82.99 per month, a $10 increase from the current $72.99 price. This discrepancy was flagged by a keen-eyed observer, leading to widespread speculation about an impending price hike as first spotted by Michael Saves.

YouTube TV addressed the confusion, stating that the Verizon ad contained incorrect pricing and that they are actively working to rectify the error. The company confirmed that the standard price for YouTube TV remains $72.99 per month, with a limited-time offer of $59.99 per month for the first three months for new customers.

A Sigh of Relief for Subscribers

This clarification comes as a relief to YouTube TV subscribers, who have witnessed a wave of price increases across other live TV streaming services in 2024, including Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV STREAM, and Fubo. Sling TV is also expected to raise its prices later this month.

While a price increase for YouTube TV wouldn’t be entirely surprising given the rising costs of content and the competitive streaming landscape, the company’s swift response to the inaccurate Verizon ad suggests that they are not currently planning to raise prices.
