Do you miss the ability to quickly jump back to the last channel you watched? In December, we broke the news that YouTube TV had started to add the ability to quickly jump back to the last channel you watched, making watching sports easier on select devices like the Apple TV. Today, YouTube TV confirmed this new feature with the ability to jump back to the last channel on all supported devices.
With this update, you can jump back to the last channel you watched by holding the select or OK button on your remote. If you hold down either button, you will return to the last channel you watched. Multiple Cord Cutters News readers have reported that this new feature is now showing up on Roku.
A few notes on this: You will only jump back to the live moment on that channel, and YouTube won’t resume where you left off. YouTube already lets you see the last few channels you visited by pushing down on the remote twice when watching a live stream. From there, you can select what channel you want to watch next on most streaming devices. This new update just makes changing channels even faster.
This new feature will make watching sports easy, allowing you to jump back and forth quickly between multiple channels. Because jumping back brings you to the live feed, and not where you last watched, you risk missing out on key moments if you switch back and forth frequently. Still, the feature makes the service easier to use and feel more like a traditional TV experience.
