Do you subscribe to YouTube Premium? Right now, YouTube is testing a new Premium-only feature that allows you to enjoy your video without worrying about mistakenly bumping controls.
Right now, in the try new features part of YouTube Premium, there is a new feature to test out until July 30th, 2023.
Here is how Google describes this new feature:
Avoid accidental taps with Lock Screen.
Available until July 30
Lock Screen disables touch input while watching a video so the accidental taps do not pause, skip, or disrupt the video.
How to use:
While watching a video in full screen mode tap the gear icon in the top left corner of the screen and select Lock Screen.
Note: available on Android and iOS only.
This is an invite-only test. If you are able to get it, you will see an invite on the YouTube home screen in the Android and iOS apps.
With YouTube Premium, you can watch YouTube ad-free and download your videos for when you are offline. Right now, YouTube is offering three months of YouTube Premium with ad-free YouTube and offline downloads free for three months.
This may be a good time to get YouTube Premium as Google has started to crack down on ad blockers when you try to watch YouTube. So if you hate ads, you may want to subscribe to YouTube Premium.
Right now, YouTube Premium is offering a one-month free trial. You also get a free YouTube Music subscription.
