YouTube has some exciting news for podcast creators and their audiences! Now, all uploaded podcasts are available on-demand both offline and for background listening via YouTube Music.
In a recent announcement, YouTube released some helpful tips for podcasters to get their content primed to create an optimal audience experience:
- Make sure your podcast appears in the Podcasts tab in YouTube Studio to have your podcasts show up on YouTube Music. You can read a step-by-step walkthrough of how to create a podcast or set an existing playlist as a podcast on our Help Center.
- If your podcast is audio-only, consider uploading a video with a static image, or use audiograms or other dynamic video formats. We’ll also offer you the option to directly upload your audio podcasts via RSS feeds to both YouTube & YouTube Music down the line. Stay tuned!
- By default, podcast videos will be available for audio-only playback on YouTube Music. If you want to turn off audio-only playback, you’ll have to disable podcast features.
- You can add a podcast badge to your website, socials, or print media to help your audience find your podcasts on YouTube Music. Download a podcast badge at our Help Center.
Audiences will be able to watch on YouTube’s main app or on YouTube Music and even allows members to cast and seamlessly switch between audio-video versions. Those with a Premium or Music Premium subscription may still hear sponsorship messages or host-read endorsements while listening to podcasts.
While this option is actively live and running, it is not currently available in all U.S. states. YouTube is gradually adding access to this feature for all its YouTube Music members. The streaming platform is prepping to release podcasts on YouTube Music to regions outside the United States although an official date has yet to be determined.
