As of yesterday, December 12, YouTube TV is no longer carrying the Seattle Sounders TV channel. This news was a surprise to Sounders fans who learned about the channel being dropped in a message from YouTube TV yesterday.
This is the message subscribers were receiving from YouTube TV to announce the change.
We’re writing to let you know that, starting December 12, 2019, the Seattle Sounders TV channel will no longer be available on YouTube TV. You will also lose access to any previous recordings from the Seattle Sounders channel. Your YouTube TV membership and billing will stay the same.
We understand how inconvenient this is for you, and apologize for the service disruption.
In response to Sounders fans sharing the news on social media, YouTube TV said:
Unfortunately, our 2-year partnership w/ Sounders FC expired. We have no knowledge of how they will distribute local matches in 2020. You may still see the Sounders on YouTube TV if their games air on a network available on YouTube TV. We sincerely apologize for the disruption.
For now, there is no update on how the Sounders will air matches for the 2020 season. The Sounders website has not been updated and is still sharing information about watching matches with YouTube TV.
