Hoopla Digital, a free streaming service for public libraries, partnered with Filmocracy to launch BingePass, a first-of-its-kind digital access pass to film festivals and more.

Hoopla BingePass is a free service accessible through your library card. Library patrons with hoopla accounts can find independent films from acclaimed film festivals from around the world. Each pass gives users unlimited streaming access to content for seven days with hoopla’s Instant Borrow. Through hoopla, library patrons can watch film festivals for free, many of which are available live.

The partnership with Filmocracy highlights hoopla’s investment in building its BingePass offerings to expand the type of content available.

“Our goal at hoopla is to provide libraries and their patrons with a wide array of engaging content, and we are thrilled to be working with Filmocracy to provide a unique range of independent films that most people would not otherwise be able to access,” said Jeff Jankowski, founder of hoopla Digital. “We launched BingePass to ensure the way library patrons consume content on hoopla meets the demand libraries are experiencing.”

The Filmocracy BingePass hosts 3,000 films that are available year-round and hosts 6,000 titles from film festivals throughout the year. The catalog includes festival content in English and international languages. It also hosts several top festivals in LGBTQ+ and People of Color spaces, expanding access to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) content.

The BingePass also grants users access to filmmaker Q&As and industry panels from more than 300 film festivals worldwide. Patrons can borrow from a curated selection of titles from Filmocracy, accessible through hoopla on a title-by-title basis.

“We are very excited to be partnering with hoopla Digital and expand our access and presence in the library market,” said Paul Jun, chief executive officer and co-founder of Filmocracy. “We couldn’t be more thrilled for more people to gain the ability to discover our stories through their local library and hoopla.”

BingePass also offers unlimited access to educational and entertainment collections of streaming content and platforms for seven days with one borrow. It’s accessible online or via the mobile app and has no commercials or ads. Users can find magazines, two million eBooks, comics, music, popular movies, TV series, and puzzles. Sign up for free with a valid library card from participating libraries and an email address.
