This week the free streaming service XUMO announced that they have hit 3.5 million active viewers. This is one more in a growing list of free streaming services to see explosive growth. According to XUMO, their viewership has seen a 325% increase compared to 2016.
With over 200 streaming services available in the United States many of turned to free services like XUMO to fill in gaps between their paid services. With services like XUMO offering thousands of live and on-demand titles, it helps supplement any missing areas you may want.
Increasingly companies are turning to free ad-supported services as a way to stand out. With streaming services offering the ability to hyper focus ads on consumers, many services are reporting that they are far more effective than traditional ads. This has driven companies like Viacom to announce plans to roll out ad-supported streaming services. The hope seems to be that even if you wouldn’t pay for a Viacom streaming service, you may be willing to watch it if its free with ads.
Companies like XUMO have benefited from this move to free as they take content from all over the web and put it in a single place. XUMO and Pluto TV seem to be fighting it out to be the go-to place for all the webs best free content.
