Every second counts when streaming live sports, and for Super Bowl LX, Xfinity’s new RealTime4K feed put many viewers ahead of the action. Comcast says its internal tests showed Xfinity customers saw Super Bowl Sunday’s on-field moments up to 49 seconds sooner than viewers on several virtual pay-TV services.

Ahead of the Big Game, Xfinity rolled out its new RealTime4K format to deliver a faster, more lifelike live feed. The stream hit the mark, coming in roughly 17 seconds behind the on‑field action, outperforming DIRECTVSling TVYouTube TV, and Hulu + Live TV.

Comcast credits the feed’s performance to ongoing upgrades across its network. By removing traditional compression steps from the video delivery chain, the company can push live sports feeds to viewers with minimal delay. Those same network improvements also allow Xfinity to deliver 4K programming at its highest possible bitrate, roughly twice that of standard 4K streams and five times higher than HD, ensuring sharper detail and more consistent picture quality, the company says.

“With Xfinity’s new ‘RealTime4K’ tech, spoilers don’t stand a chance. This ultra-low lag technology means our customers are always ahead of the action. Simply put, when it comes to live sports, no one competes with Xfinity,” said Jon Gieselman, Chief Growth Officer of Connectivity and Platforms, Comcast, during last month’s launch.

“Delivering the fastest path from stadium to screen is the ultimate benchmark for live sports,” said Michael Pilquist, Vice President, Video Architecture, Comcast. “RealTime4K builds on our network innovation to give customers not only the most immersive picture and sound, but the speed that keeps them ahead of spoilers, texts, and social media.”

As the streaming home of the XXV Winter Olympic Games, Comcast says its 4K Day, which bundled Winter Olympics coverage and Super Bowl LX, was the largest single day for video streaming on its networks. For the Winter Games alone, over the first 11 days, Peacock streamed 6.3 billion minutes of Milan Cortina Olympics content, topping the combined total for the previous two Winter Olympics.

Now, with the success of Xfinity’s RealTime 4K, Comcast has raised the bar for latency and picture quality during live sports and events. For fans who hate spoilers, those saved seconds are the real win.
