‘WWE Speed’ Series Coming to X As the Social Media Network Leans Into Entertainment

Wrestling fans can check out a new World Wrestling Entertainment show on X, formerly Twitter, this spring.

WWE Speed will feature matches set to last five minutes or less. So far, the X-exclusive live show will feature numerous wrestling superstars with new episodes every week.

“Tune in for these fast-paced, action-packed faceoffs, coming in April,” X Business posted on Thursday.

The Elon Musk-owned social media site has been quietly establishing itself as an entertainment destination over the last year.

X also is home to shows from former CNN Host Don Lemon, former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, and sports talk host Jim Rome. Rome’s deal is also reportedly part of a partnership between X and Range Media Partners for 10 shows across “various genres and formats.”

The social media platform also streamed exclusive content from Fox for the 2023 FIFA World Cup and will stream some content from NBCUniversal related to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

WWE Speed is poised to further satiate a growing appetite among viewers for live sports. The shorter format could also be attractive to audience members who may not have the time to watch a full WWE match.

Prior WWE Speed, Netflix and WWE inked a deal to make the streaming giant the exclusive home of WWE Raw. Following the announcement, the WWE Network said it would begin shutting down at the end of 2024.

The WWE’s partnership with X also demonstrates the organization is bringing its veteran brand into the digital era.

WWE wasn’t immediately available for comment.
