Fall is almost here and Roku fans are excitedly looking for new Roku Players. Typically Roku follows a very set schedule for its updates. Roku players often get updated in the fall, around September and October, right before the holiday shopping season.
Roku TVs are a bit more random on when they come out. In the past, we would get major announcements at CES in January about new Roku TVs, and they would hit the markets in the spring and summer of that year. Now with so many companies making these TVs, it can really happen at any time.
Now that we are getting closer to the fall rumors are starting to leak out that we will see some updated Roku players later this year. Last year we saw an updated Roku Ultra but the only thing new there was an updated remote. It has now been two years now since the Roku Sticks have been updated. This has left many to believe Roku is due for an updated version soon.

Will there be a new Roku Player this fall?
Most likely, yes, we should expect an updated Roku Player. The Roku Sticks are the most likely to be updated, as it’s been two years since we saw a new version. Roku seems to be following a new every two rule for many of its streaming players but has in the past, released new models after just one year.
It is possible we will see a new Roku Ultra this year. Roku did update the Roku Ultra in 2022 but the only change was a new remote the streaming player remained unchanged. Many are hoping for an updated version with the new WiFi 6E standard for better streaming.
So should you wait, or should you buy a Roku Player now?
Recently Roku has had their players on sale for back-to-school sale honestly, most streaming player updates and past models get most of the new software upgrades. Right now, we would recommend buying a Roku if you find a good deal, but if you can wait a few months, you may have an updated version to pick from.
So should you wait to buy a Roku TV right now?
Roku TVs are a lot harder than Roku Players to predict when new models will be announced. Now it seems to happen almost at random with so many manufacturers making Roku TVs.
Our suggestion is to buy a Roku TV when you need it. If the deal is good, you can get it but it is hard for us to say when new TVs will hit stores as there are so many companies making these TVs now, all on different release schedules.
Final Thoughts
You can never know for sure when new Rokus will be released well, Roku Players do have a rough timeline it could change at any moment. Our suggestion is to buy a Roku when you need it or when you find a really good deal. Though we do feel it is more likely than not that we will see some updates to the Roku Stick these are unlikely to be anything major.
