Where to watch The Mandolorian

The joy of being a Star Wars fan is knowing that there seems to always be new content to consume. Movies in this franchise have been coming out for decades, and shows, video games, and more have been sprinkled in throughout.

In 2019, not only did Disney+ launch, but the streaming service brought a new slate of shows along with it, including The Mandalorian. The Disney+ original show takes place in the Star Wars universe and stars Pedro Pascal as the titular character. The show, which just aired its second season, is also the origin of The Child, more affectionately known as Baby Yoda. The smaller version of the ever-so-wise character went viral in its own right, drawing even more people into the show.

Needless to say, there’s a lot to love about this show — including all the twists and turns Star Wars fans have come to expect from the franchise. If you haven’t yet started watching and want to catch up on the first two seasons before season three lands in 2022, there’s only one place you can watch it: Disney+. In this post, we’ll give you all the details on Disney+, including price, subscription options, and more.

All the ways to watch The Mandalorian online

While The Mandalorian is only offered on Disney+, if you have a bundle with Hulu and Disney+, you can watch it through there, but it’s still actually on the Disney+ website or app. Because this show is a Disney+ original, it isn’t even offered on the Disney Channel or through any cable services. It’s truly a well-guarded show for Disney+ subscribers only.

Streaming The Mandalorian

Because The Mandalorian is only offered through Disney+, you don’t have to make the decision on which streaming service to choose. With that in mind, we’ll just provide you with everything you need to know about Disney+ so you can familiarize yourself with the streamer before you subscribe.

Currently, Disney+ costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 for the year if you prepay. The best deal is to subscribe for a year upfront to save a little bit of money. However, if you’re not yet subscribed and on the fence about committing, you can opt for just the month-to-month deal and try it out. Disney recently announced, though, that the price for Disney+ will increase in March 2021 by $1 a month or $10 for the year. Starting March 26, 2021, Disney+ will cost $7.99 per month or $79.99 for the whole year.

You can also get Disney+ as a bundle with Hulu and ESPN+ if you want another way to save money and get all your streamers together. This bundle is $12.99 per month — definitely a savings from subscribing to each separately. With Disney+ at $6.99 per month, Hulu at $5.99 per month, and ESPN+ at $5.99 per month, you’re actually saving quite a bit. These prices will also increase, though, in March by $1 per month.

Disney+ can be accessed on a huge variety of devices, including Apple products, Android products, PlayStation 4 and 5, Roku, desktop computers, smart TVs, Amazon Fire Stick, and more. The Mandalorian can be watched in 4K on supported devices and can be viewed any time. Also, because it’s a Disney+ original, we feel confident that it won’t ever leave the streaming service (unlike some shows and movies that get taken off streaming services for one reason or another).

After you’ve finished The Mandalorian, you can check out a number of other Disney+ originals, as well as Disney films, Marvel films, and even other Star Wars content, of course. Disney+ has plenty to choose from. The streamer is also planning plenty of new releases for 2021, including Ms. Marvel, Star Wars: Bad Batch, and Loki.

Disney+ is a very well-organized app that’s also incredibly easy to navigate. Upon logging in, you’ll see that the streamer is broken down into categories for easy viewing. You can select Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, or National Geographic. (Guess where you’ll find The Mandalorian?) Beyond that, the content is separated by new releases, trending shows, and movies, recommended based on viewing history, and even seasonal options. From there, shows and movies are also broken out by categories, making it easy to find something to suit whatever mood you might be in.

On Disney+, you’ll find nostalgic favorites like The Princess Diaries alongside newer hits like Hamilton. Though the streaming service offers a kids mode that can be tailored for younger viewers, the fact that it’s Disney means it’s very family-friendly. There’s something for everyone here, so even if you subscribe to watch The Mandalorian initially, you can stay for all the rest of the features Disney+ offers.

Renting vs. buying The Mandalorian

Because The Mandalorian is a streaming-based show, you can’t actually rent or buy it. Your only options currently are to stream it through Disney+ at your leisure. That being said, you can download The Mandalorian from Disney+ and watch it on your device at a later time without an internet connection. To do this, open the Disney+ app, find The Mandalorian, click the Download button, and let it go to work. Your downloads can then be found in the Downloads section of the menu on the bottom right. You now have access to The Mandalorian even without internet.

The final cut

Disney+ has plenty of shows and movies to choose from, but its completely original content is some of the best. The Mandalorian calls Disney+ home, and it’s quite literally the only place you can watch the show. While Disney+ doesn’t currently offer a free trial, you can sign up for one month for $6.99 and cancel before the month is up if you choose to do so. If you’re on the fence, though, keep in mind that the price will go up in March, so you’re better off subscribing now to lock in the lower price. Sign up for Disney+ here.
