The Flight Attendant debuted on HBO Max in November 2020 and stars Kaley Cuoco as an international flight attendant who finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation. The dramatic thriller is dark and twisty and perfect for viewers looking for a short and exciting romp. Season 1 had 8 episodes, and the series was renewed for a Season 2 in December 2020. As with the first season, the second season of the series will stream exclusively on HBO Max.

The only way to watch The Flight Attendant is via HBO Max subscription. While the streaming service is a stand-alone app, people who already pay for HBO through a cable login can use it to watch HBO Max for free. If you don’t already have HBO, you can sign up for HBO Max independently.

Best way to watch The Flight Attendant (2020)

The Flight Attendant is available exclusively through HBO Max. While that doesn’t leave viewers with any choice, the streaming service delivers a lot of other content for your money. In addition to the movies and series that are available with standard HBO, HBO Max has a lot of original content (The Flight Attendant falls into this category).

Content offerings include series like Succession and Sex and the City, and HBO Max originals like Love Life and It’s a Sin. You’ll also find classic movies like You’ve Got Mail as well as current blockbusters, including The Invisible Man and The Little Things

All the ways to watch The Flight Attendant online

As we mentioned above, the only current platform with the show is HBO Max. You can watch The Flight Attendant with any current HBO login. If you choose this option, the HBO Max website or app asks you to connect via provider, so be prepared with your cable credentials (your user name and password).

You can also purchase HBO Max on its own. The streaming service is available via computer at hbomax.com or by downloading the HBO Max app from the Apple app store or Google Play (for Android devices). This is the only option for people who have cut the cord altogether from cable, and may also be the best option for people who don’t want to have all of their content services tied up with a single provider.

HBO Max is available on a wide array of devices (you can find the full list here), so you’re never too far from a way to get caught up. Compatible devices include Roku, Amazon Fire TV, iPhone, iPad, PS5, Apple TV, and XBox One. These devices all let you download the HBO Max app and log in. You can also log in on any Mac or PC browser.

Streaming The Flight Attendant

The Flight Attendant is released weekly when it airs on HBO Max. The service doesn’t have a free trial at this time, which is a bummer, but that also means there is no major advantage to waiting for your season 1 binge. Once season 2 begins you’ll need to have a current subscription to keep up anyway, so you may as well get started now.

While there isn’t a free trial, HBO Max also doesn’t require a contract. You can sign up, watch everything in the catalog, then end your service without penalty at any time. That being said — you may not want to once you see what else HBO Max has been releasing. Once you’re done watching The Flight Attendant, switch over to Search Party, another gripping mystery that scratches your itch for intriguing thriller content. Season 5 is already in the works.

Streaming content on HBO Max, including The Flight Attendant, is pretty simple. You can log in using your cable provider credentials if you already have HBO. Just go to the “Sign In” screen and choose “Sign in through TV or mobile provider.” Enter the same username and password that you use with your cable provider (think the way you log in to pay your bill). HBO will communicate with your cable provider and verify that you already pay for HBO.

If you don’t currently have HBO with a cable service, you’ll want to go to “Subscribe Now” on the HBO Max home screen and create an account. This process walks you through creating a name and password, providing payment details, and agreeing to terms and services. You can start streaming as soon as your sign-up is complete.

You’ll see the most currently released titles at the top of your screen in the “Just Added” category, followed by other recommendations. Categories include “New Episodes This Week,” “Popular TV,” “Trending Movies,” and other similar groupings.

Finally, if you start streaming The Flight Attendant on one platform, you can pick up where you left off on another one. For instance, you can dive into episode 1 on your laptop and pause it to go grab lunch. Then long into your phone app while you wait for your food and watch the rest of it in your car. As long as you are using the same sign-in credentials, HBO Max will remember where you left off across all devices.

Renting vs. buying The Flight Attendant

At this time, there is no way to rent or buy The Flight Attendant. Because it’s new and a HBO original, you will have to sign up for HBO Max to access the series.

The good news is that it’s cheaper to get a month of HBO Max than it is to purchase a season of a series on most platforms (on average). For instance, a single season of most shows on Amazon costs anywhere from $9.99 to $18.99. What we’re saying, is that it’s not so bad that you have to sign up for HBO Max to stream the show. You may pay less than you would to buy it anyway.

In addition to being cost effective, watching the show on HBO Max means you get all that extra HBO content with your subscription. Given that The Flight Attendant is a HBO Max original, it is likely to remain on the streaming service indefinitely. Other HBO Shows, like The Sopranos, are still available even though they ended years ago.

The final cut

The Flight Attendant may be off the air for now, but there is no time like the present to get caught up so you’re prepared for season 2. We recommend using HBO Max to watch the series even if it becomes available elsewhere, because HBO Max content is just so good and the monthly price for the streaming service is reasonable.

In addition to watching all of The Flight Attendant on your HBO Max app or other compatible devices, you may want to dig into similar mysteries like The Undoing or Perry Mason while you’re at it. Sign up for HBO Max today and start streaming for just $14.99 per month.
