It was a roller coaster of a week for streaming service Locast. Meanwhile, we learned when Seinfeld would arrive on Netflix, and Disney launched Star+ in several Latin America markets. Locast Suspends Service as Legal Battle with Broadcasters Continues

The biggest news this week centered around streaming service Locast. A judge denied the service’s request for a summary judgment in a lawsuit filed by major broadcasters ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox. Locast made some big moves during the week as a result of the court’s decision and ultimately opted to suspend operations for the time being.

Locast Takes a Hit in Lawsuit from Broadcasters

Locast’s decision to suspend operations followed a legal blow in the service’s ongoing dispute with major broadcasters. A judge ruled that Locast used funds from user donations to expand its service, which isn’t permitted under an exemption to the Copyright Act. Locast responded to say it was disappointed in the decision and is evaluating next steps.

Seinfeld is Coming to Netflix Next Month

When already knew Seinfeld had found a new home on Netflix after leaving Hulu’s lineup. However, we weren’t sure exactly when the landmark series would be made available. This week, though, we learned the show is set to stream on October 1st, with all 180 episodes on offer.

Peacock Will Stream Every Sunday Night Football Game of 2021-2022 Including Super Bowl LVI

NFL fans on Peacock have a lot to look forward to starting this month. Peacock Premium subscribers will have access to all Sunday Night Football games during the 2021-2022 season, including Super Bowl LVI in February. Additionally, key Thursday night matchups will also be available to stream on the service.

ESPN+ Will Stream a Record 500+ College Football Games From 16 Conferences This Fall

ESPN+ is prepping for a slew of college football games this season. In all, more than 500 games from 16 conferences will be made available on the streaming service. You can check out the schedule for the first few weeks in our full post.

HBO Max is Now Available on VIZIO SmartCast

We recently highlighted the current state of smart TVs and noted how HBO Max was not available on VIZIO’s SmartCast line. But this week, the gap has been filled and the streaming service is indeed making an appearance on the smart TV platform.

Disney’s Star+ Launches in Latin America

‘Manifest’ is Officially Renewed for 20-Episode Season 4 at Netflix

It’s official. The recently canceled show Manifest is getting a chance to properly wrap up its story thanks to a fourth and final season on Netflix. The 20-episode run will hopefully give showrunners the time they need to bring the mysterious show to a satisfying conclusion.

A pair of streaming apps have joined Netflix on Spectrum TV’s platform. HBO Max and YouTube are now available on the service, as the TV provider looks to bring more streaming options onto its platform.
