Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service reportedly will soon be adding original CNN programming to build out its streaming service offerings. According to a report from Variety, Max will be launching original CNN programming. These shows will be posted by Jim Sciutto, Bianna Golodryga, Rahel Solomon, and Christiane Amanpour. This comes as Peacock recently launched several feeds of live MSNBC and CNBC news programs.
Update: Max has confirmed that it is launching new CNN programming and a 24/7 live news feed. You can learn more HERE.
This news comes as earlier this month, Warner Bros. Discovery announced it will start live streaming news and sports on Max soon. This announcement came during Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2nd quarter 2023 earnings call when they announced that Max was now capable of streaming live events. While Warner Bros. Discovery didn’t announce what would be streaming live on Max, they said they would announce more details about live sports and news on Max soon.
Recently, CNBC reported that Warner Bros. Dsicovey plans to start airing live sports events. Max reportedly will start to simulcast MLB, NBA, and NHL games on this new Max tier. There will also be select college sports games. These would be the same games you could watch on TNT, for example, if you paid for a live TV streaming service or cable TV. CNBC did say at this time, there will be no exclusive Max games, but that could change.
It is reported that this new sports content will be limited to select Max tiers. No word yet on a price for this new tier. Currently, the ad-free version costs $15.99 for HD or $19.99 for Max’s new 4K plan.
Already, some CNN programming has been available on Max for some time. Now, it looks like CNN will start making original programming exclusively for Max subscribers. At this time, we don’t know exactly what kind of news programs these shows will be.
Variety reports that an announcement could be coming soon about this CNN programming for Max.
