Last month, Warner Bros. Discovery, Lionsgate, and Gray Television announced a partnership with a new company owned by Jonathan Katz called Free TV Networks. This partnership will see the companies work together to create free networks offered both on over-the-air TV and through streaming. We are a week away from these the launch scheduled for January 1, 2024.

The first of these networks, called The365, will offer 24/7 feeds of African-American programming and will include a collection of Warner Bros. and Lionsgate titles airing on Gray Television-owned TV stations. The second network will be called Outlaw, and it will focus on Westerns, vying for male viewers with its large collection of movies. Both stations will debut on New Year’s Day.

Warner Bros. Discovery has been heavily investing into free streaming services and now free over-the-air TV channels.

“Never underestimate the power of ‘free.’ Audiences and advertisers have driven the thriving ad market for digital broadcast networks to well over $1 billion, with FAST channel revenues now more than $5 billion,” said Jonathan Katz, the founder of Katz Broadcasting (Bounce TV, Court TV). “The Free TV Networks team has a successful and profitable track record scaling well-defined brands designed to serve the ever-growing number of value-conscious consumers combining free over-the-air and FAST channels with their favorite streaming services.”

Not only will these channels be available free over the air but also streaming online in the months to come. They did not announce what services will offer the new The365 and the Outlaw channels.

This news all comes as Warner Bros. Discovery reportedly also plans to launch its own free streaming service that may be called WBTV.

This is great news for cord cutters. Soon there will be even more options to find free movies and TV shows free over the air and streaming online.
