Vudu is Down For Many on Roku – Here is a Work Around

Are you a Vudu customer who is unable to watch your movies or TV shows? You’re not alone, as many have taken to Facebook, Reddit, and the Downdetector to complain about being unable to watch their purchased movies or TV shows. The problem seems to be limited mostly to Roku devices but a few other customers have reported issues on other devices.

Update: Vudu has confirmed that its service is now back online.

Customers are reporting when they plan a movie or TV show on the Vudu app, they get a blank screen or a solid color and the audio. Sadly they are unable to see the video of what they are trying to watch at this time.

The good news is customers who link their accounts to the Movies Anywhere app can watch most of their content through The Movie Anywhere app instead of on Vudu. You can learn how to do that HERE.

Many Vudu customers are reporting they are also unable to get ahold of Vudu customer service. Cord Cutters News is reaching out to Fandango the parent company of Vudu for comment and will post updates as we learn more.

This all comesas as Vudu is about to be renamed to Fandango at Home. This comes as Fandango merges its FandangoNow service into Vudu. It is unknown if this is part of the issue.

FandangoNow users will need to move their accounts to Vudu, but Vudu users won’t need to take any action unless they want to link their existing Fandango account. Vudu and FandangoNow subscribers can also use the same username and password to log in on the rebranded service.

Once FandangoNow users move their accounts to Vudu and log in again, they’ll be able to access their libraries and promo codes.

Vudu also said users won’t lose any content from their libraries, which isn’t always a guarantee when services merge. For example, when anime streamers Funimation and Crunchyroll combined, digital purchases made by Funimation users didn’t make the transition.

This is breaking news we will post updates as we learn more.
