Today, Wall Street Journal announced that Verizon will start offering its customers a $10-a-month bundle of Max and Netflix in partnership with the two companies. This will give you access to the ad-supported plans for both and will save you about $7 a month vs. getting the two services on their own.
To get this deal, you will need to be a Verizon customer and sign up for it through the myPlan features offered to Verizon customers. With myPlan, you can sign up for multiple services and pay them through your Verizon bill. The wireless carrier has increasingly offered bundles as add-ons to its subscribers, which packages ranging from the Apple One plan to the Disney bundle.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the three companies will split the profits of the bundle, but did not disclose what that breakdown would be.
For both Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery, this plan could help them reach the critical mass needed for large ad deals. Both companies are trying to grow their ad-supported services. To do so, they need a large number of users to get the best advertising deals from advertisers. Using Verizon’s massive base of subscribers to help grow their advertising base could help them become more profitable.
Customers who sign up for this bundle deal will still get a login for both the Max app and the Netflix app. This will let them watch the services on any device they choose, including smart TVs.
