Upcoming NFL Docuseries on Disney+, ESPN+ Gets Premiere Date, Trailer & More

The NFL offseason never sleeps. and fans of the reigning AFC Champions will get an inside look at their 2024 season. Skydance Sports, Woods + Pictures and ESPN Originals have teamed up with the Kansas City Chiefs for the upcoming six-part docuseries, The Kingdom, which will stream on ESPN+ and Disney+.

The project was announced earlier this year, but many details weren’t made available. Now, the project has a title, a premiere date of Thursday, August 14, and you can watch the trailer at the bottom of the page.

Produced in association with NFL Films, the docuseries takes a deep dive in the 65-year history of the Kansa City Chiefs. From legendary owner Lamar Hunt founding the team in the American Football League (AFL) as the Dallas Texans to their move to Missouri. Viewers will get an in-depth look at the team’s highs and lows with a blend present-day footage from the 2024 season and archival content and personal interviews. The Kingdom will include exclusive access to players and coaches, including Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, and other core members of the Chiefs’ roster.

“The Chiefs’ modern-day dynasty has been one of the most incredible stories in sports over the last several years,” says director Kristen Lappas. “Getting the chance to embed with the team last season while exploring the entire history of the franchise – a saga of euphoric highs and devastating lows – was a tremendous opportunity. Ultimately, the real magic and heart of the series comes from the players, coaches, and executives who trusted us; their candor shows fans how the dynasty came to be, and why the Chiefs are such a singular organization.”

Episode Descriptions & Linear Premiere Schedule

ESPN+ and Disney+ subscribers can watch all six episodes on the premiere date. The series will also air linearly on ESPN, with the first two episodes airing at 9:00 PM ET on August 14. You can watch ESPN on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, and many other devices via a live TV streaming service, including DIRECTVFuboHulu + Live TVSling TV, and YouTube TV.
