U.S. Streaming Subscriptions Projected to Reach 450 Million in 2026

The number of SVOD subscriptions in the U.S. currently sits at 338 million, but with rising trends that number is projected to grow 33% within the next 5 years, reaching 450 million in 2026 according to Digital TV Research. This projection includes gross SVOD subscriptions in the U.S.including movies, linear channels and TV episodes, and excludes other platforms such as sports.

According to the report, Amazon will have more than 101 thousand subscribers, followed by Netflix at just under 70 thousand. Disney+ will catapult to the third spot with nearly 60 thousand subscribers, followed by Hulu and HBO Max.

“We have substantially revised our forecasts to reflect recent market developments,” said Simon Murray, Principal Analyst at Digital TV Research. “For instance, we have markedly increased our subscriber numbers for Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max and the “others” category.”
