Today, Tubi announced that it will continue to push its international expansion efforts. To help expand internationally, Tubi has appointed David Salmon to lead that effort. This comes as Tubi recently expanded into Canada, bringing the service to the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador, Panama, Australia, and New Zealand.
“Tubi has now led the U.S. market as the #1 AVOD player for 6 months, and we believe our unique product and content strategy is ready for the global stage,” said Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi. “As other services raise subscription fees for consumers, we believe that audiences around the world will look for more choice, more personalization and less friction in how they are entertained. David brings an incredibly rare combination of entrepreneurial, technical and streaming expertise in global markets, and I’m thrilled to expand our footprint with his leadership.”
Before joining Tubi, Salmon spent more than a decade at sports, media, and entertainment group Endeavor, focusing on founding and scaling digital businesses. More recently, he was the founder and CTO of Endeavor Streaming, Endeavor’s video technology group, where he drove the business from inception to market leader.
“Tubi has an industry-leading position in the U.S. and we’re looking to replicate that success across international markets,” said David Salmon, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, International, at Tubi. “We already have a fast-growing footprint in Canada, Australia and Central America, and I’m excited to join Anjali and the team during this time of growth to advance those efforts while expanding into new markets like the U.K and further into Latin America.”
This all comes as free ad-supported streaming services have been growing not just in the United States but around the world. Now, FOX and Tubi want to take advantage of the demand for free content not just in the United States but around the world.
