Free streaming services are becoming even more popular as cord cutters look for cheaper options. Now according to Nielsen’s these services are continuing to see rapid growth but Tubi is now the clear leader and has tied Disney+ as the 4th most watched streaming service in the United States.
According to the report from Nielsen, Tubi had 2.1 percent of all streaming traffic equal to that of Disney+, The Roku Channel had 1.6 percent, and Pluto TV had 0.9 percent of all streaming traffic. Pluto TV was the first free ad-supported streaming service to be ranked in the top 10 by Nielsen.

Netflix 8.4 percent
Prime Video: 3.4 percent
Hulu: on-demand 2.7 percent
Disney+: 2.1 percent
Tubi: 2.1 percent
Roku Channel: 1.6 percent
Max: 1.5 percent
Peacock: 1.4 percent
Paramount+: 1.1 percent
Pluto TV: 0.7 percent

One of the most noticeable jumps is The Roku Channel jumping up from 1.2 percent in February 2024 to 1.6% in July. This moved it ahead of Max and Peacock in time spent watching.
YouTube was once again the most watched streaming service, as once again it jumped up over 10.4% of all TV viewing in July 2024.
Increasingly as cord cutters look to save money they have been turning to free streaming services. This trend has helped Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Pluto TV all compete with some of the largest paid streaming services on the market. All together these free services account for over 4.4% of all streaming in July 2024. Now it seems that Tubi has become the clear leader to the point that it has tied Disney+ for hours watched.
