Tubi has snapped up a six-episode documentary series chronicling the unlikely rise of quarterback Cam Ward, who went from an unranked high school recruit to this year’s NFL Draft No. 1 pick. According to Variety, the underdog’s saga, Zero Star: The Cam Ward Story, is coming to the free, ad-supported streamer as it continues to distinguish its catalog by attracting viewers into a story of grit, twists of fate, and the modern college-to-pro journey.

The series will give viewers an in-depth look at the rookie QB for the Tennessee Titans and how being overlooked fueled his relentless effort. The title comes from the little recruiting buzz Cam Ward attracted out of high school as a zero-star recruit. Over successive stops and wherever the opportunity arose, Ward chipped away at doubts and steadily built his resume. His story and career arc are now immortalized in the six-part docuseries, which showcases his perseverance, the identity shifts in the transfer era, and the emotional highs and lows of chasing his dream.

“I overcame the curse by turning adversity into strength and I have played with nothing to lose, which is a blessing. It means you bring it all and leave it all out there on the field and in life,” said Ward in a statement.

The release date for Zero Star has yet to be announced, but Tubi aims for a premiere in September of this year. Firebrand Media Group, whose Fifteen58 Sports Management imprint Ward is signed under, is producing and developing the docuseries.

“Tubi has shown tremendous support for our creative vision, allowing us to stay true to the heart of this story while also backing the series with the promotion it deserves. We’re excited for audiences everywhere to experience Cam’s inspiring journey,” said Jeff Symon, head of revenue for Firebrand Media Group in a statement.

The series will give fans unprecedented access to the zero-star recruit turned draft-topper, including archival footage and intimate moments like workouts, family reflections, and the big-stage drama as he forges his way on the field on Sundays in the NFL.
