There have been rumors and even some leaks that Roku has been busy working on a new Roku player. So that raises the question of what would cord cutters want to see in a new Roku.

Today, we are breaking down the top 5 things cored cutters want in a new Roku player.

#1 More Storage

One of the main improvements Roku needs is more storage. Increasingly, with the growth of free streaming services, Roku owners are installing more apps. That is increasingly leading to Roku needing to remove some apps and reload them when you try to launch them.

More storage will make Roku much more usable for cord cutters who are using a growing number of services.

#2 Programable Buttons On Remotes

Already if you buy the Pro Roku Remote or get a Roku Ultra, you will find two buttons you can program to open your favorite services. We hope Roku brings this option to more Roku players and Roku TVs by default.

Many cord cutters would also love to see more than just two programmable buttons on the remote.

#3 Better WiFi

WiFi has seen a lot of improvements over the last few years. With the new WiFi 6E and even WiFi 7 coming soon, we hope Roku adds at least WiFi 6E to its higher-end Roku players and Roku TVs.

#4 Better Voice Controls

As Roku rolls out new streaming players, we hope they continue to improve the voice controls. It can be used now to do a lot like opening apps but we hope Roku will add additional support to use voice inside apps.

#5 Faster Processor

The speed of your streaming player is one of the biggest impacts on how delayed a live TV streaming service like YouTube TV is. The speed of your internet and how quickly your streaming player is will play a small part in how delayed your live TV service is.

Hopefully, Roku will add a more powerful processor in its next streaming player.
