If you used Facebook between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, the social media giant might owe you money. To see if you’re owed some of the $725 million settlement, you need to submit a claim online or by mail by August 25 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Completed physical claims should be mailed to:

The amount of money you’ll receive is contingent on how long you’ve had a Facebook account as well as the number of valid submitted claims. Funds should be distributed after the settlement’s final approval hearing on September 7. You can then choose to receive the money via direct deposit, Venmo, Zelle or prepaid Mastercard.
“Settlement payments will be distributed as soon as possible if the Court grants Final Approval of the Settlement and after any appeals are resolved,” the claim website said.
If you accept settlement money or do nothing, you won’t be able to sue or be part of any other lawsuit against Meta, according to the claim website’s FAQ page.
Last December, Meta agreed to settle a class action lawsuit claiming the social media site illegally shared user data with third-party companies like Cambridge Analytica. It’s estimated that around 87 million Facebook users’ information was shared without their consent. Meta has denied any wrongdoing, but reached a settlement in the lawsuit stating that it was “in the best interest of our community and shareholders.”
