According to a new FCC filing, it looks like TiVo may be getting ready to release an Android TV powered TiVo DVR. This week a new TiVo remote with support for Android and Google Assistant button passed through the FCC.

This comes thanks to a report from ZatzNotFunny.com; a site that has a great history of finding FCC filings like this. So what does it mean? From the looks of it TiVo is getting ready to release some type of device that supports Android TV and the Google Assistant. Similar to how Sling’s Air TV and AT&T’s DIRECTV NOW built custom Android TV boxes that boot into their apps. It looks like TiVo may be making a similar box that boots into a custom TiVo experience.

With FCC approval in hand, we may learn something more at CES 2019 in early January. Yet it could be as late as mid next year before we learn more.
