Recently we learned that Sparklight Cable was shutting down its traditional TV service and replacing it with its own streaming service. Now Frontier has stopped offering cable TV to new customers and instead directing them to DIRECTV STREAM or YouTube TV.

The best part is Frontier internet customers can get a special deal on YouTube TV. If you have Frontier internet, you can get YouTube TV for $54.99 a month, a $10 discount.

Frontier Communications currently offers service in 29 states and has over 3 million broadband subscribers. After filing for bankruptcy in 2020, the company decided to stop offering its traditional TV service in late 2021. Instead, Frontier partnered with YouTube TV to replace its TV service. Later, Frontier added DIRECTV STREAM as a second option for TV to Frontier Internet Customers.

If you currently have Frontier’s old TV service, you can still keep it for now. If you want Frontier TV, you are out of luck, as Fronter is no longer selling its own TV service.

It seems that Frontier has decided that TV is no longer profitable for them. Instead, it was a better deal to partner with YouTube TV and DIRECTV STREAM, allowing them to focus on their internet service.

Increasingly small and midsize cable TV companies are deciding TV is just not profitable anymore. Instead, they want to focus on internet and other services they see as profitable going forward.
